2025 NEPEAN HOUSING CORPORATION
EDUCATIONAL BURSARY PROGRAM

OFFICIAL RULES & REGULATIONS

Please be sure to read these official rules and regulations before submitting your Application.

 

With the help of our generous donors, Nepean Housing Corporation will award three separate bursaries in the amount of $2,000 (each) to eligible tenants of Nepean Housing communities who are undertaking full-time post secondary studies in the 2025 academic year. The bursary can be applied towards tuition fees, books, transportation, childcare, equipment, living expenses and/or other costs directly associated with the academic or training program. 

 

The 2025 Nepean Housing Corporation Educational Bursary Program (the “Program”) is provided by Nepean Housing Corporation (“the Sponsor”). The Program opens on April 30, 2025, at 12:01 a.m. EDT and closes on June 2, 2025, at 11:59 p.m. EDT (the “Entry Period”).

 

1. Eligibility

a) Only Applicants who reside in and are legal residents of Nepean Housing Corporation communities are eligible to apply (the “Applicant”).

b) Applicants must be between 17 and 25 years of age at the time of application.

c) Applicants must be enrolled in or planning to enroll in full-time studies at an accredited post-secondary university, college or trade school for the 2025 academic year.

d) Immediate family members of employees of Nepean Housing Corporation or their Board of Directors are not eligible to apply or win.

e) Eligibility will be determined at the Sponsor’s sole discretion. The Sponsor reserves the right to disqualify any submission or Applicant it finds to be ineligible for any reason, including, but not limited to, fraud or deceptive activity. Any Award inadvertently delivered to an Applicant who ought to have been disqualified by these rules and regulations will be reclaimed by the Sponsor.

f) All submissions that are incomplete, late, illegible, damaged, irregular, have been submitted through illicit means, or do not conform to or satisfy any condition of eligibility may be disqualified.

g) By applying, the Applicants acknowledge compliance with these eligibility requirements.

2. Ways to Apply:

a) A full application form with options to upload supporting documentation can be found on our website at www.nepeanhousing.ca/bursary-application  

b) As of April 30, 2025, hard copy forms are available at our main office located at:

16 Kilbarron Road, Nepean, Ontario, K2J 5B2

c) Paper copy Applications being dropped off at the office should be delivered during business hours only. Please ensure you hand your application to a Nepean Housing Corporation staff member at our main office.

DO NOT LEAVE COMPLETED APPLICATIONS IN THE OFFICE DROPBOX.

d) Completed online Applications must be received by June 2, 2025, at 11:59 PM EDT.

Late submissions will not be accepted or considered.

e) Hard copy submissions handed into the office must be completed no later than June 2, 2025, at 4:00 PM EDT.

3. Application Instructions:

Applications must be completed in full, otherwise, they will not be considered. Please ensure that you:

a) Answer ALL questions in the application

b) Attach your letter of acceptance (if available)

c) Answer all four questions in the ‘Biography’ section

d) Attach your original essay (500 -700 words)

f) Ensure you check all of the boxes in the certification section

g) Ensure you sign and date your Application

h) Do not skip questions, as this may result in disqualification. Only one submission per person.

4. Selection of Award Recipients

Three Applicants will be selected to receive a bursary award of two thousand dollars ($2,000 CAD) (the “Award”).

a) A Bursary Selection Committee will review all applications.  All decisions are final.

b) Only successful Applicants will be notified once final decisions are made.

c) If we contact you to confirm that you are a winner, you must contact us within 5 business days to accept your award and to provide the necessary supporting documentation. Please give us your best phone number and email to contact you. If we award you a bursary, and you do not accept your award within 5 business days, this will result in the Selection Committee selecting an alternate winner.

d) Applications will be assessed by the Selection Committee and scored based on the following criteria. This rubric is designed to ensure fairness and inclusivity across all types of post secondary programs.

​​​​​​​​​​​​​5. Claiming Your Bursary: Recipient Requirements

To receive the bursary funds, successful applicants must provide the following documentation:

a) Proof of Identity – A government-issued photo ID (e.g., driver’s license, birth certificate or passport).

b) Proof of Age – If not included in the above, a document confirming date of birth (must meet minimum age requirement).

c) Proof of Current Address – Correspondence or ID showing current residence is within a Nepean Housing Corporation community.

d) Proof of Full-Time Enrollment – A letter of enrollment, course registration, or official documentation confirming full-time status in a recognized post-secondary institution or accredited training program.

e) Recent Photograph – A clear, high-resolution photo of the recipient (headshot preferred) for possible use in donor communications or program updates.

f) Thank You Letter to Donor – A short letter expressing gratitude for the bursary, to be forwarded to donors. This letter should include your educational goals and how the bursary will support your journey. Nepean Housing will assist with this process.

6. Timing:

Following the selection, for each potential Award recipient, Nepean Housing Corporation will (1) confirm eligibility, including verifying school enrollment status, and (2) review the Application and essay and confirm it meets the essay criteria.

Winners will be notified via email and by phone in July 2025. Information about the presentation of the bursary award will be sent shortly thereafter.

If a potential Award recipient fails to respond to communication from the Sponsor within a five (5) day period, fails to provide identification, fails to comply with the Official Rules, fails to meet the Application criteria, or if the notification is consistently returned as undeliverable or fails to reach a selected applicant for any reason or if potential Award winner fails to respond for any reason to the communication as directed, or if the potential Award winner’s post secondary institution fails to respond to the communication or fails to confirm enrollment and graduation status, that potential Award recipient will be disqualified and an alternate Applicant will be selected and contacted and undergo the same confirmation process within five (5) business days of the alternative Applicant being contacted. All decisions of the Sponsor are final.

The Award will be delivered to confirmed Award recipients within thirty (30) days of the Sponsor confirming the validity of the information in the Application.

7. Publicity

By accepting the Award, each Award recipient agrees to the Sponsor’s use of his/her name, picture, biographical information, statements, voice and likeness, in any advertising and publicity the Sponsor may conduct relating to the Program in any media or format, whether now known or hereafter developed, including but not limited to the internet, at any time or times in perpetuity, without further compensation or notice.

 

8. Sponsor

9. Miscellaneous

Award recipients are responsible for any costs or expenses associated with receiving the Award, including any applicable costs, taxes, duties or fees.

 

The Program is subject to all applicable federal, provincial, territorial and municipal laws. The Sponsor reserves the right to correct any typographical, printing, computer programming or operator errors.

 

Any dispute concerning the Program or the rights and obligations of an Applicant in connection with the Program shall be governed by and construed under the laws of the Province of Ontario and the laws of Canada applicable therein and adjudicated in the appropriate court in Ontario.

 

All submissions that are incomplete, late, illegible, damaged, irregular, have been submitted through illicit means, or do not conform to or satisfy any condition of eligibility may be disqualified. By applying, Applicants acknowledge compliance with all eligibility requirements listed in the Official Rules & Regulations.
