In 2025, Nepean Housing proudly introduced the three winners of our first Educational Bursary Award Program. This bursary program was made possible because of our generous donors, and we were very grateful for their support.

HALIMA ABDIAZIZ MOHAMED
OTTAWA UNIVERSITY
Honours B.Sc. in Mathematics & an Honours B.Sc. in Computer Science
Shaped by family role models and early encouragement to enter the STEM field, Halima has combined her passion for problem-solving with a commitment to advocacy and inclusivity. Her efforts in high school created a space for student voices, and her resilience continues to reflect the strength and perseverance of her family. With her determination and vision, she's ready to inspire others and create a lasting impact.
EMMA LEON-RIVERA
CARLETON UNIVERSITY
Honours Bachelor of Arts in Criminology & Criminal Justice
Guided by a strong sense of fairness and justice, Emma is beginning her studies in Criminology and Law with plans to pursue a career in criminal defence. Her deep commitment to community service, shaped by personal experiences and a desire to give back, has been evident from a young age through volunteer work, youth leadership, and advocacy. With her passion for helping others and determination to create change, she is ready to build a future that amplifies voices often left unheard.

WESTERN UNIVERSITY
BESc Engineering & Honours Business Admin (HBA) Ivey Business School
Mi is beginning her studies in a dual program that includes technical innovation with leadership and entrepreneurship. A dedicated student leader and active volunteer, she has shown resilience, creativity and a commitment to giving back to her community. From organizing school events to supporting local causes, her experiences reflect both determination & vision. Looking ahead, she aspires to use her skills to develop sustainable technologies & lead with impact in her future career.
Program
Overview
Our program encouraged and supported students in Nepean Housing communities who demonstrated the desire to pursue post-secondary studies. Through this program, Nepean Housing seeks to contribute to the development of future leaders and professionals who will make meaningful contributions to society. These students were chosen from a pool of incredible applicants based on their need for support, their commitment to community service and their academic goals. Our Selection Committee was incredibly proud of the qualities showcased by the applicants and the recipients of the 2025 Educational Bursary Award Program.
