Bursary awards will be provided to three recipients in the amount of $2,000 each (one-time payment).

The Bursary Award can be applied towards tuition fees, books, transportation, childcare, equipment, living expenses and/or other costs directly associated with the academic or training program.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS:
Can multiple applicants from the same household apply?
Yes, multiple applicants from the same household can apply using separate applications. Only one application per person will be accepted.

What qualifies as proof of enrollment?
Proof of enrollment can be obtained from your post-secondary institutions registrar's office. It outlines your information and what program you are enrolled in.

Are TRADES eligible for a bursary award?
Yes, if you meet all of the other eligibility criteria you can apply.
How are recipients selected?
Applicants will be scored using a point system that correlates to the specific mandatory components of the application such as the biography section and the essay section. Applications are reviewed by a Selection Committee comprised of Nepean Housing Board members. Applicant names will be hidden throughout the evaluation process.
If I was not selected for a Bursary Program Award, can I submit a request to be reconsidered?
No. The decisions of the Selection Committee are final. We encourage those not selected in the current program to reapply for any future bursary program awards NHC is able to offer.
Will the bursary cover each year of my program?
No. The Bursary Program award will be a one time bursary paid for the Fall 2025 academic year.
Is the bursary award taxable?
Yes — all bursaries are taxable as income. Upon receiving one of our bursaries, we will require your Social Insurance Number and an address to mail you a T4A slip. One will also be mailed to the Canada Revenue Agency. You must declare the $2,000.

Will the recipients of the bursary be publicized?
Yes — the recipients of the three awarded bursaries will be publicized on the internet through the websites and social media of NEPEAN HOUSING and its donors, as well as in our tenant newsletters and potentially advertising for future bursaries.

Do universities outside of Canada qualify?
No — the university or college/trade school that you are planning on attending must be located in Canada. Winners will be asked to provide proof of enrollment.

What is the date cutoff for the age eligibility?
Applicants must be between 17 - 25 years of age by December 31, 2025.

What happens if I am awarded a bursary but then I decide not to attend?
Applicants must contact Nepean Housing Corporation immediately should they decide not attend the post-secondary institution as indicated in their application. If the Bursary Award has already been paid to the recipient, they must immediately return the funds to Nepean Housing. ​
