Discount Food
The Ottawa Good Food Box offers fresh fruits and vegetables at a lower rate than grocery stores.
Apps like Too Good to Go and Flashfood sell discount food from grocery stores and restaurants that is not “fresh” enough to sell in the store, but still good to eat.
Zero Waste
If your food is reaching the end of its shelflife, don’t throw it out! This blog has recipesand ideas for using all of your food.
This blog also has recipes to reduce food waste, and ideas for using food “scraps” instead of throwing them out.
If you have something left over but you aren’t sure what to do with it, the Ottawa Food Bank has recipes by food item, and even more recipes on their website.
Shop for deals
Coupon apps like Flipp gather flyers andshow you the best deals.
Some apps like Checkout 51 or Rakuten offer “cash back” or other coupons for using the app to shop or by scanning your receipts. Just remember you shouldn’t pay to use these apps and that they are studying your data.

Dining Out
Some restaurants offer free meals for kids.
The Student Price Card has some restaurant discounts.
Checking a restaurant’s website or app is another good way to find coupons or discounts.
